I am a devoted dog lover.
I have lived with and loved dogs all my life.
As an adult, I have had two yellow labs, both of which I was lucky enough to have adopted and freed from bad situations.
The first, Harley, passed away in December at the fabulous age of 18.
The second, Joe, is pictured left and is still going strong at 14, but he missed his life mate. So, this past May i decided it was time to bring home a new friend.
Off to the Humane Society I went to bring home a new lab companion for Joe. What happened was something I would have never predicted in a million years. I fell in love with a 5 month old Pit Bull mix......who I named POLLY.
All I can say is that I can not believe how much I love this dog. She is truly an example of why some call this bread, "the clown". She is funny and smart and loving......and yes, very playful. She is fantastic with Joe and with all the kids in our neighborhood.
I did take her right away to obedience school and I am an avid fan of Cesar Milan, so know that she gets LOTS of exercise each day, which would be a must for her due to her high energy level.
This short story is for all those who are afraid of this breed, and there are many. Any dog can be aggressive if they are neglected, abused, or mistreated. Open your heart and time to an animal and they will climb right in....regardless of breed.
